Who are we?

We are Betsy, Karen, & Dana, and we met while attending Cornell University, in Ithaca NY. Betsy and Karen finishing up their PhD's in Material Science and Engineering and Dana just beginning. Needless to say soon after we met, and discovered our mutual obsession with knitting and fiber arts, Betsy and Karen departed to begin the next chapter in their lives post University. This blog was created in order for Betsy, Karen, and Dana to continue sharing their fiber stories with each other, and perhaps the rest of the world.

Betsy
grew up in the west -- specifically, in Vancouver (not B.C.), Washington (not D.C.). She's just moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Her first crafting love was sewing (apparel, not quilting), but she's recently been consumed by more yarn-related activities like knitting and spinning, mostly thanks to Dana's influence. Since she's self-taught, she does some weird things like knitting Combination-style.

Betsy is a Ravenclaw.

Dana
was borne in New York's Hudson Valley region, and has lived in NY state almost all of her life (with a few forays into Pennsylvania and Vermont). She likes to joke about how she knows New York like the back of her hand having lived in 6 of the 10 regions that make up this state.

She has been a crafter since she was really young. Her mother was a maker and encouraged her daughters to do the same. Growing up there was always a craft project around, be it cross stitch, quilting, rug-hooking, tin punching, etc...

It wasn't until adulthood that Dana discovered knitting, like many she somehow decided to learn how to knit, bought a how-to-knit book, some needles and red heart yarn and never looked back. Her love of knitting and fiber arts has grown significantly since, thanks to the friends and community she has found through  all things fiber.

Beyond knitting Dana also enjoys dying and spinning, and dreams of one day having her own small herd of sheep and or Angora goats.
